Pulau Serangan (Serangan Island) has a rich history dating back centuries as a sacred Balinese site. Known as Bali Turtle Island, it is home to the Pura Sakenan temple — one of Bali’s most important temples, visited during the Kuningan ceremony.

Serangan Island Reclamation

In 1997, the reklamasi Pulau Serangan (Serangan Island reclamation) expanded the island from 112 to 481 hectares. Today, the 498-hectare KEK Kura Kura builds upon this foundation to create a sustainable marine city.

Turtle Conservation History

Serangan Island has historically been a nesting site for sea turtles (penyu). Conservation programs at Serangan protect green turtles (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill turtles.
